Welcome to Naples, the main Campanian city, whose origins lie in the legend. Its ancient name, Partenope, go back, according to some, to a siren that committed suicide because of the cunning of Odysseus escaped to the power of the sirens. Her body was drifted by the sea waves on the islet of Megaride, where today stands the Castel dell'Ovo.
In 470 BC, the Greeks Cumani decided to found a real town in the area that corresponds to the current center, the name chosen was that of Neapolis ("new city").
The city and its surroundings have been the preferred destination for summer residences of Roman patricians and poets like Virgil who found inspiration here for their artistic genius. Even today you can visit the sites of greek-roman origins, like Grotta di Seiano and Villa Imperiale di Pausilypon, right near Hotel Nesis.
Hotel Nesis is located in the Bagnoli, whose name probably derives from Balneolis, because for its thermal water.
