FOOD:
  • The typical products of the territory have ancient traditions:
  • First product of excellence is without any doubt the Pizza, one of the symbols of Naples. Originary of Naples, is now revisited throughout the world. It can be tasted with Mozzarella di Bufala, another certificated product of the area that makes our territory famous around the world. A valid variant is the Neapolitan “calzone”, made with the same dough used in the pizza and stuffed with ricotta cheese, cicoli, black pepper, cooked in a firewood oven.
  • For the lovers of sweet flavors Naples offers three local specialties: the Babà, dessert of cylindrical shape with rounded top, almost mushroom-shaped, very soft and wet with rum, the Pastiera, a pie filled with ricotta cheese and wheat and the legendary Sfogliatella, in the varieties “riccia” – with crisped top, but soft and pleasing inside - or “frolla” without crisped top (both variants are served in our breakfast buffet)
  • If we move a little toward the south there is the lemon liqueur of Sorrento, better known as Limoncello, with pleasant taste, perfect to digest all that we have proposed.

ART AND CULTURE:
The monuments of Naples have been estimated by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site. The historical center is the result of an overlapping of architectural styles and contains about 2.800 years of history that witness the various civilizations passed:
  • Castel Nuovo, better known as Maschio Angioino, is one of the symbols of Naples. It overlooks the spectacular Piazza Municipio. It is possible to visit the Palatine Chapel and the museum of the Castle.
  • Castel dell 'Ovo, where according to the legend the writer Virgil hid an egg in its prisons; once broken the egg would lead to destruction the whole city. The castle stands on the island of Megaride, where in the seventh century B.C. landed the Cumani who founded Parthenope. In the twelfth century it was rebuilt by the Normans and later renovated by the Aragonese. Actually exhibitions and conferences are held, and it is free to visit.
  • Castel Sant 'Elmo, once called Belforte, was built on the hilltop of Vomero district in 1275 by Charles I of Anjou and renovated in the mid-1500 by the Viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo, with the current star plant. The castle is surrounded by the beautiful Certosa di San Martino.
  • The Royal Palace overlooks Piazza del Plebiscito and has the typical shape of a European palace. It was built in the 17th century and remained the official royal residence under the Savoy monarchy until 1946.
  • A second royal residence is the royal palace of Capodimonte. The palace, which today houses a famous art gallery is surrounded by Capodimonte Park.
  • The Cathedral of San Gennaro, where each year the 19th of September is repeated the miracle of San Gennaro, houses one of the oldest baptistery (Baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte).

TO VISIT IN CAMPANIA:
  • Thanks to the transport network, you can enjoy a visit to the famous archaeological sites of Herculaneum and Pompeii, the ancient Roman cities tragically destroyed after one of the eruptions of the nearby volcano Vesuvius in the year 79.
  • The Gulf of Naples, one of the most evocative of Italy, hosts three of the most beautiful islands of the peninsula: Procida, an island of fishermen known for being the setting for the film "The Postman" by Massimo Troisi, Ischia, known for its therapeutic thermal waters and Capri with the Blue Grotta, where magical light effects were described by many writers and poets and famous Faraglioni, small rocky islets at short distance from the shore that create a spectacular effect.

CHRISTMAS IN NAPLES:
  • For those who are arriving in Naples during Christmastime We suggest to visit Via San Gregorio Armeno, an ancient street of the historical center, famous for cribs shops.
  • The artisans of the area realize representations of the nativity scenes, both canonical and original (usually every year, the most eccentric artisans reproduce statues of the most representative characters of current history, from Diego Maradona to Silvio Berlusconi through Osama bin Laden). Expositions take place through the whole Christmas period, usually from early November to 6 January.
